While studying in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nust.edu.pk\/Pages\/Default.aspx\">NUST<\/a>, Ommer got the opportunity to take part in a \u201c<em>Business Plan Competition<\/em>\u201d. It was perhaps a turing point for him for it inspired him to start his own venture in the world of entrepreneurs as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/daastan.com\/\">Daastan<\/a>\u201d. He put aside his bachelors (which was completed later) and got selected in <a href=\"https:\/\/pitb.gov.pk\/plan9\">Plan 9<\/a> in <strong>2014<\/strong>. Coming back to Islamabad, Ommer got the opportunity to get into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/telenor.velocity\/\">Telenor Velocity<\/a> and then in <a href=\"https:\/\/nicpakistan.pk\/\">NIC Islamabad<\/a>. After struggling for <em>five<\/em> years, Daastan landed on a grant from <em>USIP<\/em> and launched a national campaign called \u201c<em>Shanaakht<\/em>\u201d. Right when the road was about to get smooth, Daastan like the rest of the world was hit by COVID-19!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"normal\"><span lang=\"EN\">Business Struggles Amidst COVID-19<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Daastan has been holding up well during the COVID-19. As we all bear witness, covid has <em>impacted<\/em> businesses all around the world. This is true also for Daastan as their new business model is a <em>premium<\/em> version which relies greatly on <em>memberships<\/em>. The team faced <em>huge<\/em> obstacles when the pandemic struck such as losing regular customers and struggling to pay their employees. But nevertheless they prevailed. Ommer provides insight on <em>how to help your online business flourish<\/em> in the Covid pandemic. The key points he highlights are to <em>go out of your way to pay your employees<\/em>, because they are a <em>valuable<\/em> asset to every company. He also states that by <em>laying off<\/em> people, companies risk losing\u00a0 valuable staff members.<\/p>\n<h2>A World of Opportunity<\/h2>\n<p class=\"normal\"><span lang=\"EN\">Ommer goes on to explain in realistically simple terms, how <em>quarantine<\/em> is also a blessing in disguise. Instead of worrying too much about <em>making money,<\/em> the team used their spare time to focus on <em>self growth<\/em>. Daastan\u2019s team members took <em>online courses<\/em> which prove useful in <em>growing<\/em> an enterprise. Ommer mentions that courses about <em>SEO<\/em> and adding value to your online business are available for <em>free<\/em> these days. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"normal\"><span lang=\"EN\">Farhan then asked Ommer about how people can do <em>extra curricular activities<\/em> during quarantine to which he replied that one should <em>make<\/em> time for such activities while practicing <em>precautions<\/em> and <em>social distancing<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Reviving an Art<\/h2>\n<p>According to Ommer one of the <em>main<\/em> reasons why writing <em>quality content<\/em> is being abandoned is because the <em>publishing process<\/em> isn&#8217;t <em>transparent<\/em> or <em>streamlined<\/em>. Daastan aims to bring back the <em>dying art<\/em> of <em>writing in Pakistan. <\/em>By providing writers with a stage through which they can easily publish their work, Daastan aims to encourage the youth to raise their voices and mold our society into a better version of itself.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Viewers were compelled to use Daastan for publishing their content because of how <em>promising<\/em> and<em> seamless<\/em> the system is. Daastan opens gateways for <em>writing enthusiasts<\/em> and <em>professionals<\/em> alike. It is also Pakistan&#8217;s <em>first<\/em> ever publishing platform which provides <em>customized<\/em> options like <em>printing on demand<\/em> and <em>self publishing.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/daastan.com\/\">Daastan<\/a> is honored to be a part of such interactions.
