English came into a common trend when the amount of Pakistanis immigrating to English speaking countries began rising.\u00a0 Whatsoever the reason may be i.e. <em>tumbling economy,<\/em> <em>unemployment<\/em>, or<em> lack of educational opportunities,<\/em> immigration to foreign countries is <em>constantly<\/em> on the rise. In the midst of all this, the importance of our <em>official language<\/em> shouldn&#8217;t be overlooked.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giving English More Value by Westernizing Our\u00a0 Culture:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although change shouldn\u2019t be associated as a bad thing. However, too much of it (especially in the wrong direction) can have some <em>negative impacts<\/em>. <\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As awareness about western countries and their culture arose, speaking English started to be considered as a trait of <em>high gentry<\/em>. It also gave the impression of <em>good grooming.<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents opt to put their children in English medium schools where English is given priority over Urdu. Although Urdu classes and exams are conducted in these schools, they are mostly<em> limited<\/em> to just that. In turn, children have<em> lost interest<\/em> in Urdu and treat it only as a subject.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bringing Back Urdu:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we have established, Urdu needs to live a new life. It needs to be given its fair share of national importance. Simple steps can be taken by individuals and parents to gain hold over our national language. Urdu is <em>rich <\/em>and<em> vibrant<\/em> along with being closely related to Persian. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students and parents should be<em> encouraged<\/em> by teachers to try and thrive in Urdu alongside English. <em>Bilingual<\/em> people are considered to have a good intellect\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Making it Interesting:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Urdu doesn\u2019t have to be<em> boring<\/em> or <em>uninteresting<\/em>. Urdu prose and literature is equally rich and intriguing. History is witness to the works of Urdu poets and authors such as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muhammad_Iqbal\">Allama Iqbal<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ghalib\">Mirza Ghalib<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ashfaq_Ahmed\">Ashfaq Ahmad<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bano_Qudsia\">Bano Qudsia<\/a>, and many others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These famous writers arent only popular for adult literature but have timeless pieces written for <em>children<\/em> as well. Allama Iqbal\u2019s famous poems in his book \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/en\/book\/show\/9631965-bang-e-dara\">Baang-e-Daraa<\/a>\u2019 are a source of <em>enchantment<\/em> and <em>amusement<\/em> to children. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rekhta.org\/nazms\/bachche-kii-duaa-lab-pe-aatii-hai-duaa-ban-ke-tamannaa-merii-allama-iqbal-nazms-1\">Bachay ki Dua<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/iqbalurdu.blogspot.com\/2011\/02\/bang-e-dra-6-aik-makra-aur-makhi.html\">Makra aur Makhi<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/iqbalurdu.blogspot.com\/2011\/03\/bang-e-dra-11-maan-ka-khawab.html\">Maa ka Khwab<\/a>, and many more are included in this compilation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">English is a <em>global language<\/em>, which every individual needs to learn at some point in time. This doesn\u2019t mean we should get carried away in the process and end up forsaking our national language. In conclusion, Urdu should be given emphasis. Our ancestors fought <\/span>hard for our country.
