Firstly,\u00a0<strong>Mr. Muhammad Ghazi \u00a0<\/strong>who is the curriculum manager, talks much about innovation at the grassroots level. Secondly, we have\u00a0<strong>Miss. Sahar<\/strong>, the program manager, who focuses on the goals of Amal Academy. Finally <strong>Miss. Fatima<\/strong>, the program associate, who delves into the impact Covid has had on education on a holistic level.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Amal Academy<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/amalacademy.org\/\">Amal Academy<\/a> was founded by <strong>Benje Williams<\/strong>, and <strong>Kunal Chawla<\/strong> after completing their <strong>MBA<\/strong> at <strong>Stanford University<\/strong>. It has been under consistent refinement since its inception. It was founded in <strong>2013<\/strong> as an education startup funded out of Stanford University. The academy has transformed the lives of more than <strong>5,000 Pakistani graduates<\/strong>. Moreover, their aim is to bridge the income gap in our society by developing soft skills. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the rising need to bridge the gap between the public and private sector of education, Amal Academy stands as the <strong>facilitator<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Innovation in Education (Case Study : Amal Academy)<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Student-centric<\/strong> education is the need of the hour. It involves project based learning. In addition, this type of learning deviates from the <strong>traditional rote-learning<\/strong> methodology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Ghazi emphasizes that innovation in education is not restricted to simple methodology. It also pertains to the tools that are utilized- which includes <strong>technology<\/strong>. Therefore, it is important to teach students the basics rather than to simply expect them to adapt to the changes. With this mindset the <strong>\u201cinnovation that we are implementing becomes relevant and digestible\u201d<\/strong>. Moreover, <strong>contextualisation<\/strong> of these innovations within the job market is the way to ensure <strong>relevancy<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Education in Pakistan: a work in progress<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within Pakistan it is important to take note of the inequality between the public and private sector of education. Amal Academy makes sure that it is not the <\/span><b>\u201cbrand name\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of one\u2019s educational institution that guarantees them the jobs they require. Instead,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0it is only inadequate information that affects a person\u2019s professional life. Thus, they focus on taking final year students from public sector institutes and help \u201cthem understand the competitive job market\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, Amal Academy seeks to distance itself from the flaws present within the traditional education system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The impact of Covid on the Education sector<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While conversing with Miss. Fatima it soon became apparent that the onset of the <\/span><b>pandemic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> forced an educational learning curve for all stakeholders involved. While initially the emphasis was on rote learning, now there is a focus on questioning the <\/span><b>critical thinking abilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of students.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, It becomes a question of efficient learning now that the knowledge is within everyone\u2019s reach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Teachers as Learners: Redefining Education<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps what truly sets Amal Academy apart is its redefinition of the teacher\u2019s role as a learner as well. According to Miss. Fatima, the willingness to learn by teachers and administrations has a drastic impact on the learning of students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For these reasons they constantly try to measure the effectiveness of the methodologies being implemented. For it is \u201cvery important to remember that teachers are also learners\u201d who are simply ahead of the curve.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The panelists emphasise on the need to spark discourse surrounding unequal opportunities. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThere is a disparity in our education sector which we need to talk about\u201d. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lastly, they also highlight the importance of finding out one&#8217;s passion projects.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next batch for Amal Academy will start in <\/span><b>August<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
