Stay with us and get to know about Ozma and her book in her own words.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meet Ozma Mushtaque\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ozma Mushtaque is a <em>teacher<\/em> by profession but an <em>artist<\/em> at heart. She loves to <em>read, write, do poetry recitals<\/em>. Moreover, she is a huge fan of theatre. Ozma dreams of performing in the theatre one day. As an individual she is someone who loves to <em>explore<\/em> life with all its <em>complications<\/em>, and tries to make the best out of it.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI love to inspire and be a positive influence for the people around me.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe realm of darkness\u201d is Ozma\u2019s debut poetry collection. Currently, she is working on a <em>screenplay<\/em> and a <em>short stories collection<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The Realm of Darkness<\/h2>\n<p>The book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meraqissa.com\/book\/1792\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;The Realm of Darkness&#8221;<\/a>, is a collection of poems that carry diversity in it, it covers almost every <em>human emotion<\/em>. The poems are full of <em>life<\/em>, <em>vigor<\/em>, <em>energy<\/em> and <em>spirit<\/em>. The poetess seems to be doing all the efforts to infuse a positive energy into the readers. You go through various <em>colors<\/em> and <em>moods<\/em> reading this collection. In addition, each time you find yourself relating to the situation in numerous ways. It has got the power to <em>lift up<\/em> the souls, that have long lost interest in life. More precisely, the book bears a <em>healing power.<\/em>\u00a0For the words seen coming from a <em>broken heart<\/em> instead of getting <em>shattered<\/em> decided to collect all the <em>broken pieces<\/em> and started a <em>new journey<\/em> of helping others heal.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What has inspired you to write?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;First of all, life itself. Secondly, <em>Urdu literature<\/em> too has had a deep <em>influence<\/em> on my life. I was drawn to the world of books from an early age. Moreover, having <em>literature majors<\/em> helped me explore work around the world era wise. It has helped me to understand humans.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The major inspirations so far have been <em>Manto, Mazhar ul Islam, Sylvia Plath and Emily Bront\u00eb.<\/em> You might find some references or similarities in my works. Another inspiration for my poetry is <em>death<\/em>. Death has always inspired me since my teens. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For me, it is the <em>beginning<\/em> of a new life rather than an end. This has kept me upright in my life despite the <em>struggles<\/em> that life continues to throw.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What made you think of taking up such a dark theme? Is it personal at any level?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Very personal I would say, as it carves out all the struggles that I have been through in different phases. Furthermore<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, I believe most of us experience a <em>dark phase<\/em> in life, no matter how brief it may be. My work is an <em>ode<\/em> and a <em>catharsis<\/em> of those dark times. However, it also tries to send a message that<em> \u201cafter every night, there is dawn\u201d<\/em>. Therefore, do not lose hope and just keep on going.&#8217;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is there any hope in your work?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes, not very much evident, but it is there. You just need to see through it. I am an <em>optimistic<\/em> person, so I have high hopes. I never wanted my work to be a <em>dead end<\/em> rather I want it to tell you how you need to draw <em>strength<\/em> from within yourself. You need to trust yourself to fight the world and make your mark. Don&#8217;t let people tell you that you are <em>non-existent<\/em> or your presence doesn&#8217;t matter. It is you who is going to make sure that you exist with everything. Accept your <em>low times<\/em> and then move forward with more <em>strength<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do you see life through your work?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>&#8216;Shattered<\/em>, <em>falling down<\/em> and <em>getting up<\/em> on my feet without <em>compromising <\/em>myself.\u00a0 Life through my work seems <em>dark<\/em>, which might put some people off or <em>discourage<\/em> them, but then<em> \u201chow would you know the importance of light without darkness?\u201d<\/em> Darkness helps in <em>self realisation<\/em>. It makes you aware of your <em>purpose<\/em> in life. It helps you to <em>contemplate<\/em> on your part. No one can come and tell you who you are. It&#8217;s your journey to explore yourself.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u201cDarkness is not a dead end, it prepares you for the worst and makes you stronger and brave to face the cruel world.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Ozma Mushtaque talks about Daastan<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Pakistani authors face a lot of <em>publishing problems<\/em> due to various reasons. They do not have enough <em>support<\/em> or <em>platform<\/em> to launch themselves. Since\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daastan has been a pioneer in taking this matter in their hands, they make sure that our <em>young writers<\/em> do not <em>suffer<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The best thing about Dastaan is that it lets you be who you are. There are no <em>restrictions<\/em> for the <em>writers<\/em> or the <em>content<\/em>. That is why recently there has been a surge in the publishing \u00a0industry and the themes have been quite different.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ozma Mushtaque shares her reading preferences\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;I have deep interest in <em>philosophical work, historical fiction and sufism<\/em>.\u00a0 Other than <em>horror<\/em>, I can read anything for pleasure. The authors whose works that I absolutely love are <em>Ibn e Khildun, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Toni Morrision, Khushwant Singh, Bapsi Sidhwa, Arundhati Roy, Fehmida Riaz, and Kishwar Naheed.&#8217;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Message for audience\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Try to find what your <em>soul<\/em> wants. A <em>peaceful<\/em> soul can make you <em>happy<\/em> with the <em>minimum<\/em>. Do not underestimate your <em>abilities<\/em> no matter whatever happens. Be like a plant which is equally useful when it&#8217;s not alive. Stay positive and always trust yourself.
