This week, at Daastan<\/a> we are taking a trip down the memory lane<\/em> to revisit the Disney fairly tales<\/em>. However, we will not be talking about the wholesome<\/em> bits. Today, we are taking you on a crazy ride<\/em> to meet the vilest<\/em> of the Disney lot. That\u2019s right! Disney\u2019s Super Villains<\/em>. Therefore, without further ado, let\u2019s dive into the land of crazy evil.<\/p>\n

What are Super Villains made of?<\/h2>\n

Before we move forward with the crazy list rundown, let\u2019s take a moment to talk a out what makes someone a villain<\/i>. If you are a Disney fan, you must know that not all villains are inherently evil<\/em>. Some have traumatic pasts<\/i>\u00a0that became their villain origin story<\/em>. However, evil still can not be justified. Of course, a villain would like to tell you otherwise. For instance, Klaus Michelson<\/em> \u2013 the big bad hybrid from the TV series The Originals<\/em> describes evil in the following words.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my long life I’ve met no shortage of people who would presume to speak of good and evil. Such terms mean nothing. People do what is in their best interest regardless of who gets hurt. Is it evil to take what one wants? Even if doing so will cause another suffering. What some would call evil, I would believe to be an appropriate response to a harsh and unfair world.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

1. Scar<\/h2>\n

On our super villains\u2019 list, we are giving Scar<\/i> from Lion King<\/i> the first<\/i> place. It\u2019s because he is the worst kind of treacherous<\/i> that could ever exist. Not only he is greedy for power but also possesses killer instincts<\/i> that spare no one. In Lion King, with the help of hyenas, Scar successfully kills his brother and takes the throne for himself leaving Pride Rock<\/em> deprived of happiness and fairplay<\/i>.\u00a0Furthermore, Scar\u2019s evil mind and his thirst for power leads to the ruination<\/em> of Pride Rock. Some fan theories suggest that Scar not only killed his brother, Mufasa, but also ate his corpse<\/i>.<\/p>\n

This story is the perfect example of how one unjust ruler<\/i> can break apart an entire kingdom. The deep rooted darkness<\/i> of his soul not only affected him but the whole of the jungle, wreaking havoc<\/i> in every corner.<\/p>\n

2. Mother Gothel<\/h2>\n

Next on the list is one of Disney\u2019s most well known Villans, a beautiful witch whose desire to remain young<\/i> for eternity leads to unforgivable<\/em> sins<\/i>. We are talking about\u00a0Mother Gothel from Tangled<\/i>. In the movie, Mother Gothel\u2019s clever mind leads to the disappearance of the beloved daughter of the King, Rapunzel<\/i>. Mother Gothel kidnaps the infant and locks her up in an unescapable tower<\/i> for the rest of her days.\u00a0Her aim was clear from the beginning of the tale; to use the lost princess\u2019s magic hair<\/i> and remain young forever<\/i>. She achieves her purpose effortlessly until one day, Rapunzel runs away from the tower\u00a0to fulfil her life long dream of watching the lanterns<\/em> that lit the night sky every year on her birthday.<\/p>\n

Mother Gothel from Tangled<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

After her secret is exposed, Mother Gothel uses harsher means to bring Rapunzel back. Rapunzel is then\u00a0saved from mother Gothel\u2019s wrath by Flynn Rider<\/em>. Flynn Rider who is a conman<\/i> helps Rapunzel escapes and finally stand against mother Gothel. The character of Gothel is a perfect example of vanity<\/i> and lust for fleeting beaut<\/i>y. Those who put appearances<\/i> above all reason<\/i> and morals<\/i>, often meet ugly ends.<\/p>\n

3. Gaston<\/h2>\n

Saving the worst for the last, we have one of disney\u2019s most misogynistic villains<\/em>, Gaston. Just like the other people from his time, Gaston<\/em> believed that a woman\u2019s role in this world was nothing more that to be a good wife<\/i> to his husband. Gaston\u2019s character revolves around his endless attempts to impress<\/em> Belle and when the young girl refuses to wed him, Gaston turns evil considering his birth right<\/em> to marry any women his heart desires.<\/p>\n

Gaston uses his ability of manipulation<\/em> and his undeniable charm<\/em> to turn the village against the very woman he claimed to love<\/em>. When Gaston gains the knowledge that Belle has chosen a beast instead of him, it acts as fire to the already burning fire in his chest. This new found hate<\/em> leads him down the path of murder<\/i>.\u00a0Although his ways were a bit extreme than usual, his character portrays the deep rooted misogyny<\/em> and sense of superiority<\/em> found in society even to this day.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, where we do believe that the world is an unjust place<\/em>, the way to betterment<\/i> is always there. To turn evil<\/em> is a choice one makes. Justifying such evil behaviour only serves as further excuse for people to make wrong decisions. The aforementioned characters from our favourite Disney fairytales are a crash course on \u201chow not to be<\/i>\u201d. Always remember that the path of revenge<\/em> and mischief<\/em> may seem a tempting<\/em> response to atrocities<\/em> of the world but it ends up hurting more people than those who are to blame for injustice<\/em>.<\/p>\n
