Today we at Daastan<\/a> are back with an exciting book tag<\/em> for all the book lovers out there. If you keep up with the book trends, you probably know what the \u201c7 deadly sins\u201d<\/em> book tag is all about. However, today we are doing our own little twist on it. We will be looking at some of the famous books<\/em> that fit the 7 deadly sins. Without further ado, let\u2019s dive into them.<\/p>\n

1. Greed<\/h2>\n

Readers know very well buying books is no easy feat, especially when it comes to hardcovers<\/em> and collector\u2019s editions<\/em>. You would be surprised to know, if we told you that right now somewhere in the world, a first folio edition of Shakespeare\u2019s<\/em> play is on auction for millions of dollars. It blows your mind, doesn\u2019t it? Yes, we get it that a first folio edition of Shakespeare\u2019s work is a relic of history at this point. However, books that are not yet ancient relics<\/em> still sometimes cost more than 3 Mcdonald\u2019s happy meals<\/em> or a labour\u2019s daily<\/em> or weekly wage<\/em> for that matter. This leads to our question. Which is the book that you were so greedy for that it cost you a lot?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Gluttony<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are few books that are a household name<\/em> in almost every corner of the world. Book lovers devour them at a rate that surprises the non-readers. If we were to tell you that your favourite books are the ones that people have loved for decades and decades you would be surprised. After the Holy Scriptures of Christianity<\/em> and Islam<\/em>, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Alchemist and The Twilight Saga<\/em> are the most read books of all time. This actually does not come as a surprise, as the fandoms<\/em> of these books are millions in number<\/span>. Not only are they always in search of new editions but also push the production houses, the publishers, and the writers for T.V series, merches, movies<\/i> and even theme parks<\/i>. We would like to know which books you can\u2019t go without reading at least once a month?<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Sloth<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u201cSome books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.\u201d \u2014 Francis Bacon\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You won\u2019t be able to grasp Bacon\u2019s metaphor<\/em> regarding books, if you haven\u2019t fallen in love with a book or hated it with all your heart. While some books can be read in one sitting because they are such a page turner<\/i>, there are some that are a pain<\/i> to get through. You would be surprised to see the books that have made it to the list of being read at sloth speed<\/i> because of their plot. Haven\u2019t we all heard great things about classics<\/i>? But did you know even reading the classics can sometimes feel like a chore. According to Goodreads<\/em>, Lord of Flies<\/em> and Animal Farm<\/em> have made it to the least of slow<\/em> and boring reads<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Pride<\/h2>\n

Books not only serve the purpose of entertainment<\/em> but they also act as food for thought<\/em>. It is widely believed that books either poison<\/em> your mind or act as nectar<\/em>. In this segment of the \u201c7 deadly sins\u201d we are going to talk about books that one feels intellectual after reading. From Sun Tzu\u2019s \u201cThe art of war\u201d<\/i> to Plato\u2019s \u2018Republic\u2019,<\/i> the non-fictitious gems undoubtedly are spun with great wisdom and life-saving lessons about war, politics, poetry and philosophy. For instance, in Republic Plato presents the model of an ideal state where reason, truth and logic rule over emotions and senses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Lust<\/h2>\n

Moving on to the next on the list of deadly sins, we have lust. In the book tag edition, it stands for the attributes<\/em> that you love most in a book. These attributes include setting, trope, genre, character traits<\/em>, etc. For instance, people who enjoy atmospheric and descriptive<\/em> books will love Leigh Bardugo\u2019s \u201cNinth House\u201d<\/em> or Krystal Sutherland\u2019s \u201cHouse of Hollows\u201d<\/em>. Likewise, those who have a specific liking for Greek mythology<\/em> and its modern takes would love \u201cSong of Achilles, Ariadne and Circe\u201d<\/i>. Nowadays, people do not even care to read the book blurbs<\/i>. In the age of Book-tok,<\/i> most book-tokkers give \u201cone line reviews\u201d <\/i>that sum up the genre<\/i> and trope<\/i> specifically. These marketing tactics<\/i> grasp the attention of readers and make certain books instant buys<\/i>. Let us know what are the elements that you find the most intriguing about a book?<\/p>\n

6. Envy<\/h2>\n

For readers, the world of books offers an escape like no other. While readers enjoy every moment of their journey to the magical realms<\/em> immersed in the pages of the books, they often find themselves wishing to be a part of it. Our obsession to find refuge began as kids when we read about Peter Pan\u2019s Neverland, Prince Caspian defending Narnia, Harry and his friends going to Hogwarts through the platform number 9 1\/2 and Aquaman travelling to Atlantis.<\/em> There are definitely some book multiverses<\/i> we would like to escape to. Can you recall the book world you envy the most?<\/p>\n

Have you ever been in a state where you were reading a book and you wanted to throw<\/em> it across the room, burn<\/em> it to ashes or drown<\/em> in a black hole? Everyone feels that way about a certain book or books. What\u2019s interesting about this part if the book tag is that the books you encountered among the loved ones also made it to this list. It is because, some books are overhyped<\/em> and when you get around to reading them, you realise they are not your cup of tea. Hence, the wrath that then surfaces is lethal<\/em>. Among these disappointing titles, the public lists \u201cThe Eye of Aragon, The Hunger Games, and Da Vinci Code\u201d<\/i>. Tell us about the book that turned you into an angry bird.<\/p>\n
