About Prism of Ashes

“Even a donkey’s face is better than her cleft lip and repugnant features.”

Hajra has hidden her face throughout her life because of such comments. The situation might have been different too if she belonged to the kind of rich family she worked for. Her mistress is hard to her but what wounds her most is her daughter’s behavior. When she goes to pick her up from school her young mistress acts like she doesn’t know Hajra.

Soon things will change though. Hajra is sure that new clothes and makeup will make her young mistress see that she is beautiful and deserving of her friends too. She is so sure but will it really happen?

An amazingly well written story. Loved the theme and some quotes were very encapsulating! An utterly commendable effort!
