Larger Than Life

When we asked Khalid Salamat to share his thoughts about his book “Larger Than Life”, he shared:

“Larger than Life is a collection of portraits of individuals whose character, work, and quiet contributions strengthened Pakistan in meaningful ways. These are the people who may not always be in the spotlight, yet their impact is deep and lasting.

The book offers glimpses into their journeys and values without revealing too much; it is a tribute to excellence that often goes unnoticed.

I wrote three pen sketches for a Karachi magazine, which were appreciated more than I ever expected.

A friend pushed me to write more in the same genre. This is how the seed for writing Larger than Life was planted.”

The Inspiration Of Khalid Salamat Behind “Larger Than Life”

When asked about the inspiration behind “Larger Than Life,” Khalid responded:

“I wrote Larger than Life to honour individuals whose integrity, dedication, and quiet service strengthened Pakistan. Over the years, I came across profiles of people whose contributions far exceeded their visibility.

Their stories stayed with me. I felt they deserved to be recorded and celebrated. This book is my way of acknowledging their greatness.

Putting together their profiles was the result of research into archives, interviews, and multiple other sources. There are two things I kept in mind while writing this book:

First, share something about these legends that readers may not be aware of, and

Second, keep each write-up concise so that the interest in reading the whole book is not lost.”

The Role of Daastan as a Book Publisher

Larger Than Life” is published by Daastan, one of Pakistan’s top publishing houses. Daastan supports writers from across Pakistan and around the world.

You can purchase this inspiring book from MeraQissa, Daastan’s online bookstore, where readers can discover and buy books by a wide range of authors.

Khalid Salamat’s Experience in His Own Words

“Daastan made the entire publishing process smooth and structured. Their team guided me through editing, design, formatting, and production with clarity and professionalism.

They removed the usual uncertainties authors face, especially around timelines and technical details, which allowed me to focus fully on the content of Large than Life.

Their support ensured the book was presented with dignity and care.”

Key Takeaways Of Larger Than Life

According to Khalid Salamat:

“Readers will find lessons in character, humility, leadership, and sincerity. The book shows how real impact often comes from quiet dedication rather than visibility.

Each legend I have written about had one mindset: How may I serve more (without fanfare)?

It encourages reflection on values, on the people who inspire us, and on the importance of contributing meaningfully to society.

It’s a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the power of individuals who lead by example.”

Message Of Khalid Salamat to His Readers

At the end of the interview, we asked Khalid Salamat if he had any message for his readers.

He responded:

“My message is simple: take a moment to notice the people who make a difference quietly. Their stories remind us that character, sincerity, and values still matter. If this book inspires even one reader to appreciate such individuals, or to become one, it has fulfilled its purpose.”

I had the chance to publish my first two stories through “Daastan” and looking back, it feels like a beautiful stroke of luck that I discovered this platform. What began as a coincidence soon turned into one of the most rewarding experiences of my writing journey.
Investing in a new writer is always a risk, but Daastan took that leap of faith and showed me “Ek Kiran Andheron Mein” and gave me a “Shanakht” as a writer.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunities and guidance Daastan provided me, from encouraging to mentoring and publishing. For me it’s more than just a platform—it’s a place where new writers find their voice and recognition. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wishes to begin or enrich their writing journey.

Dil Ke Afsaneh... Today, I have a book published on the Dastan platform, but it is a book only because of this platform, otherwise it would have been a collection of words limited to me and nothing else. Because we all know that the rules and accessories or ingredients used traditionally to publish a book are not as easy as this digital library Dastan has ensured. I am sincerely grateful to the Dastan team and especially Omar Sahib for their efforts.

I published two books with Daastan. What I loved about Daastan and still love is their honesty and transparency, the two things on which I believe from the core of my heart.
I have worked with many publishers in Pakistan, of which Daastan tops among independent publishers on account of transparency, quality and earlier response.

Discovering Dastaan Publishers felt like finding the doorway I didn’t even know I needed. As a new writer, I always assumed that entering the publishing world—especially from Pakistan—would be intimidating and out of reach. That mindset changed the moment I connected with Dastaan.

Their publishing process was exceptionally smooth and reassuring. After I registered, Narmeen, their consultant and editor, handled my manuscript with remarkable professionalism, guiding me through every stage with clarity and patience. With their support, I successfully published two books: Love, Lucknow aur Lahore, which received immense appreciation, and a short story titled Gol Roti.

What truly elevates Dastaan is the authenticity of their team. Ommar, Narmeen, and every member of their staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in my growth as a writer. Their encouragement turned what could have been a daunting experience into an inspiring milestone in my creative journey.

With grateful appreciation and thanks to Daastan

As a first-time author venturing into the literary world with both excitement and hesitation, I could not have found a better publishing partner than Daastan Pvt Ltd. Under the thoughtful leadership of Syed Omar Amer, the team at Daastan was unwaveringly supportive, responsive, and professional, guiding me with care and insight through every step of the publishing process. Their facilitation turned what could have been an intimidating journey into one marked by encouragement and trust.

The quality of the finished product speaks for itself - readers and recipients of my books consistently comment on the exceptional standard of printing and presentation, especially preservation of the design colours. The books look and feel beautiful in the hand, which has enhanced both their reach and reception. For any author, whether stepping into print for the first time or seasoned in the craft, I wholeheartedly recommend Daastan as a go-to publisher and printer. They are capable, creative, and above all, committed to the stories their authors want to tell. I am truly delighted that I found my way to them.

Daastan will always be hella special for me because I published my very first book with them, the most special one to my heart. I don’t think I could’ve found better publishers than Daastan. They’ve been sooo helpful and supportive through everything. Living in Pakistan, just the thought alone of getting your work published seems like a big deal, but Daastan has been making it possible and fulfilling dreams of not just me but so many writers. My experience with them couldn’t be any better, perfect. 🤍
