The Power Of One Choice
“A Tale on Trial,” published by Daastan, is a thoughtful fiction novel that explores how our choices shape our lives. It delves into struggles like self-doubt and the burden of regret. Written by Wajahat Saeed, an engineer and writer from the United Kingdom, the story is simple yet powerful, reminding readers to listen to their own inner voice.
In his interview with Daastan, Wajahat discusses his writing journey, the inspiration behind the book, and his experience with Daastan as the book’s publisher.
Wajahat Saeed: The Author
Wajaht Saeed is a 27-year-old graduate structural engineer who studied in Scotland and is currently based in the UK. With an engineering background, he has a strong interest in marketing analysis, particularly in researching trending products and helping sellers improve their performance in the e-commerce space.
In his daily life, Wajahat enjoys reading and writing. He shared with us:
“In my daily life, I enjoy reading and writing, which also supports my curiosity and continuous learning.”
When we inquired about his ongoing projects, he shared some interesting insights:
“At the moment, I’m working on a new e-commerce-focused project, exploring product trends and market opportunities. I’m especially inspired by the work of James Clear, and I enjoy studying his ideas to improve both my personal habits and professional approach.”
A Tale On Trial
A Tale on Trial is the story of Ella, a woman who once had clarity but failed to listen to her own voice at a crucial moment. Sitting in a classroom with her friends, she ignored her true feelings and let others influence her decision, eventually saying yes to a marriage with Julian.
The novel follows how that one choice slowly changes the course of her life. As time passes, Ella struggles with regret, constantly looking back and wondering what could have been.
It’s an emotional story about self-doubt, missed chances, and how not listening to yourself can shape your entire future.
What inspired Wajahat Saeed to write “A Tale on Trial”?
Wajahat Saeed wrote “ A Tale on Trial” because he wanted to explore how one small decision can change the direction of an entire life. The idea came from observing how often people ignore their inner voice, especially when they are surrounded by expectations from family, friends, or society.
He shared more and said:
“I was inspired by the thought that many of us face moments where we know what feels right, but still choose differently. This story reflects that quiet struggle & the conflict between what we truly feel and what we end up doing.”
He added:
“What motivated me most was to show the emotional impact of such choices and how living with regret and ‘what ifs’ can shape a person’s journey over time.”

During our conversation, when we asked Wajahat about his experience with Daastan, he answered:
“Daastan played an important role in supporting my journey as an author by making the entire publishing process much more structured and less overwhelming. As a first-time author, one of my biggest challenges was understanding how to move from an idea to a finished, publishable book”.
He added.
“Overall, Daastan support made the process smoother and more manageable, allowing me to focus more on my writing and creativity rather than getting stuck in the complexities of publishing.”
Lesson from A Tale on Trial
When we asked Wajahat Saeed about the lessons readers can learn from A Tale on Trial.
He answered:
“Readers can learn the importance of listening to their inner voice and making decisions for themselves, not based on others. The book shows how even one choice can shape your whole life.”
He continued,
“I believe it’s a must-read because many people can relate to doubt, pressure, and regret. This story gently reminds us to trust ourselves before it’s too late.”
Wajahat Saeed’s Message to Readers
We asked Wajahat if he had a message for his readers. He answered very politely:
“My message to readers is to stay consistent and believe in your dreams, but also understand that dreams require the right actions and thoughtful decisions. Don’t rush into choices based on emotions or pressure. Take your time, listen to yourself, and move forward with clarity because the decisions you make today shape your tomorrow.”

Investing in a new writer is always a risk, but Daastan took that leap of faith and showed me “Ek Kiran Andheron Mein” and gave me a “Shanakht” as a writer.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunities and guidance Daastan provided me, from encouraging to mentoring and publishing. For me it’s more than just a platform—it’s a place where new writers find their voice and recognition. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wishes to begin or enrich their writing journey.

I have worked with many publishers in Pakistan, of which Daastan tops among independent publishers on account of transparency, quality and earlier response.

Their publishing process was exceptionally smooth and reassuring. After I registered, Narmeen, their consultant and editor, handled my manuscript with remarkable professionalism, guiding me through every stage with clarity and patience. With their support, I successfully published two books: Love, Lucknow aur Lahore, which received immense appreciation, and a short story titled Gol Roti.
What truly elevates Dastaan is the authenticity of their team. Ommar, Narmeen, and every member of their staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in my growth as a writer. Their encouragement turned what could have been a daunting experience into an inspiring milestone in my creative journey.

As a first-time author venturing into the literary world with both excitement and hesitation, I could not have found a better publishing partner than Daastan Pvt Ltd. Under the thoughtful leadership of Syed Omar Amer, the team at Daastan was unwaveringly supportive, responsive, and professional, guiding me with care and insight through every step of the publishing process. Their facilitation turned what could have been an intimidating journey into one marked by encouragement and trust.
The quality of the finished product speaks for itself - readers and recipients of my books consistently comment on the exceptional standard of printing and presentation, especially preservation of the design colours. The books look and feel beautiful in the hand, which has enhanced both their reach and reception. For any author, whether stepping into print for the first time or seasoned in the craft, I wholeheartedly recommend Daastan as a go-to publisher and printer. They are capable, creative, and above all, committed to the stories their authors want to tell. I am truly delighted that I found my way to them.
